In 2019, EMCO coal production increased fourfold

Coal winning capacity of East Mining Company, which accounts for about 80% of all Sakhalin coal production, skyrocketed by 24% at year-end 2019.

EMCO produced more than 9 million tons of solid fuel.

In 2019, Solntsevsky Coal Mine enlarged its coal production by almost one quarter versus 2018.  The company produced 9.3 million tons of solid fuel, which is 1.8 million tons higher than in 2018. Coal Sea Port of Shakhtersk shipped about 8.8 million tons of coal, which is 17% greater than the volume handled during the same period last year.

East Mining Company takes steps each year to enhance its production capacity by investing substantial funds in the development of Solntsevsky Coal Mine and Coal Sea Port of Shakhtersk.

In the implementation of the investment program in 2019, the company significantly renewed and expanded its mining and back up equipment at Solntsevsky Coal Mine. 49 units of domestic and foreign manufacture were acquired. 6 excavators, 2 graders, 7 bulldozers and 34 dump trucks have been added to the mining transport equipment.

At Coal Sea Port of Shakhtersk, the network of conveyor belts of the on-shore ship loading complex has been increased by three kilometers, and two new shiploaders have been added at the jetty. Four new vessels with a deadweight of 7.5 thousand tons each and RT GENOVA floating terminal with a deadweight of 55 thousand tons have commenced operations. The new vessels handle large-capacity bulk carriers with virtually no deadweight restrictions.

In 2019, the first phase of the construction project of the main coal conveyor started in Uglegorsk district, Sakhalin. It will connect Solntsevsky Coal Mine and Coal Sea Port of Shakhtersk. According to EMCO overarching development strategy, the conveyor construction is one of the key measures to further increase the coal production and shipment in Uglegorsk district. In the future, the company plans to produce and ship 20 million tons of coal per year.

The Free Port of Vladivostok benefits are used in the implementation of EMCO key investment projects. In 2019, the total investment volume amounted to 11.5 billion rubles.
