Coal Sea port of Shakhtersk LLC
Coal Sea port of Shakhtersk LLC is the major coal sea terminal of the region. The company operates specialized reloading machines and 2500 t/h vessel-loading machine. Port vessels: dry-cargo vessels with 1.7 and 3.5 th.t. deadweight and tow boats. The freight is loaded on bulk carrier with 50 th.t. deadweight.
In 2015 the company’s shipment capacity made 2.8 mln.tons, in 2016 – 3.1 mln.tons, in 2017 – 4.5 mln.tons. 2018 shipment schedule made 8 mln.tons.
The company’s core development thrust is operational excellence and expansion of production volume. In 2011 in terms of Far East development investment projects the company presented “Sakhalin coal terminal” project, comprising a deep-water port for PANAMAX vessels types with 120 th.t. deadweight and coal handling conveyor line from Solntsevskiy coal deposit to the loading point.
The project was supported by RF Government and by the President V.V. Putin personally.
In 2012-2013 the port faced a large-scale modernization: renewed conveyor lines, new vessel-loading machine, new port vessels (“Slavutich” type vessels of 1700 t capacity and two vessels with 3500 t deadweight).
The global port modernization investment program of 2017-2019 presupposes raising the port capacity to 8 mln.tons per year by 2020 and up to10 mln.tons per year by 2022.
In 2017 six dry-cargo vessels with 650 t deadweight each joined the terminal fleet. The construction works commenced in January 2017.
