Solntsevsky Coal Mine LLC
Solntsevsky Coal Mine LLC operates the sites “Yuzhnuy-1” and “Yuzhnuy-2” of Solntsevsky coal deposit (Uglegorsk district, Sakhalin region). Proven coal reserves of more than 300 mln.tons provide a long-term resource base for the company.
Solntsevskoye CJSC developed the stated reserve within the period from 1987 to 2003 with the production extent exceeding 4.4 mln.tons. In 1983 - 1986 experimental coal mining in terms of mineral survey was arranged at the site with the total extent of production making 435 th.tons.
In fact Solntsevsky Coal Mine was the first company in Uglegorsk district to arrange open-cast mining.
Solntsevsky Coal Mine raised the mining operations to a qualitatively new level. In spite of continuous defaults in payment on the part of primary consumers (housing, utility and power industry enterprises by 2012), company management resolved to refocus its sales activities to South-East Asia markets. Coal sea port of Shakhtersk largely contributed to access facilitation to foreign markets.
Since 2011 Solntsevsky Coal Mine LLC has been modernizing its industrial facilities and buying new machines. Thus in 2011 dump trucks BELAZ 75131 with 130 t capacity were operating at Solntsevsky Coal Mine and in 2012 the company bought Liebherr 9250 dredger with 15 cu.m. bucket capacity. At the end of 2013 state-of-the-art technologies by Komatsu were widely used at coal mine, namely dump trucks PC2000, PC1250, tip trucks HD 785, powerful Komatsu D375A-5 and WD 600-3 dozers, Komatsu WA 470-3 loaders with 6.2 cu.m. bucket capacity.
In 2016 the company resolved to invest in high-tech, high capacity mining and conveyor equipment (unique for Sakhalin) and bought sixteen 220 t. dump trucks BELAZ-75306, 3 Komatsu and Hitachi dredgers with 23 cu.m. bucket capacity.
Coal mining volume reached 4 mln.tons in 2017.
